Terms & Privacy

Clear rules for visits, data and promotions

Last updated 1 August 2026

Please read before booking or entering

These terms explain the basis on which Highland Saunas Ltd, trading as Portree Sauna, provides its website, bookings and promotions. They also explain how we use personal information. Nothing here removes rights you have under applicable consumer or data-protection law.

This page is a practical customer notice, not a substitute for advice on your individual circumstances. Prize promotions and material legal documents should be reviewed by a qualified UK solicitor before launch.

Part one

Customer terms

These terms apply to use of the website and to sauna bookings made directly or through BookWhen. More detailed practical guidance is available on the Visitor Info and Sea Safety pages.

01

Bookings and payment

A booking is confirmed when BookWhen issues a confirmation. Prices, session details, capacity and availability shown at checkout form part of that booking. BookWhen handles attendee details and payment on our behalf and may apply its own platform terms and privacy notice.

You are responsible for checking the date, time, ticket type, quantity and contact details before paying. Promotional codes, local rates and other offers apply only where their stated conditions are met and cannot be exchanged for cash.

02

Cancellations, refunds and changes

You may cancel for a full refund up to 72 hours before your session by emailing us with your name, booking reference, date and time. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the start time, late arrival and non-attendance are non-refundable unless your statutory rights require otherwise.

If Portree Sauna cancels, we will offer a full refund or another available session. We may delay, change or cancel sessions where weather, site conditions, fire safety, equipment failure, staff availability or another operational issue makes it unsafe or impracticable to proceed.

03

Age, health and conduct

The minimum age for standard public sessions is 16. Guests aged 16 or 17 must attend with a responsible adult aged 18 or over. The adult remains responsible for the young person’s wellbeing and conduct.

You must follow reasonable staff instructions, treat other guests and the venue respectfully, avoid alcohol or drugs before and during the session, and not attend when acutely unwell. We may refuse or end participation where conduct creates a safety risk or materially disrupts others; no refund is due where exclusion results from your breach of these terms.

Sauna and cold-water exposure may not be suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, have a relevant health condition, take medication affecting heat tolerance, hydration, alertness or blood pressure, or are unsure whether participation is suitable, seek appropriate medical advice before attending. Our staff do not provide medical advice.

04

Sea access and personal belongings

Entering the sea is optional, unsupervised and undertaken at your own risk. Portree Sauna staff are not lifeguards, operating the sauna does not mean the sea is safe, and conditions can change quickly. Follow the published Sea Safety guidance and leave the water while you remain calm and in control.

Bring only what you need. Personal belongings are brought to the site at your own risk. We are not responsible for loss or damage unless caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

05

Liability and consumer rights

We provide services with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded. Nothing affects your statutory consumer rights.

Subject to those protections, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when the booking was made, losses caused by your failure to follow instructions or disclose relevant information, or business losses arising from a consumer booking.

06

Website use, changes and law

Website content is provided for general information and may change. You must not misuse the site, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access or copy brand content except as permitted by law.

We may update these terms prospectively. The terms in force when you book normally apply to that booking. These terms are governed by Scots law; Scottish courts have jurisdiction, without removing any mandatory right you may have to bring a claim elsewhere in the UK.

Promoter

Highland Saunas Ltd, trading as Portree Sauna. Contact: hello@portreesauna.com; Portree Sauna, Skye Sailing Club, Portree IV51 9QU.

02

Opening and closing

The promotion opens when Portree Sauna publishes the qualifying Facebook promotion post. Entries close at 11:59pm UK time on Sunday 9 August 2026. Entries received before opening or after closing do not qualify.

03

Eligibility

Open to permanent Isle of Skye residents aged 18 or over who follow the Portree Sauna Facebook page. Proof of age, identity and permanent Skye address may be requested. Employees of the promoter and anyone professionally connected with the draw, and their immediate families, may not enter.

04

Booking entry route

Complete an eligible public sauna-session booking using code FB17 by the closing time. The booked session must take place no later than Monday 31 August 2026. Each separate completed qualifying booking transaction using FB17 receives one entry.

05

Free email entry route

No purchase is necessary. By the closing time, email hello@portreesauna.com with the subject “FB17 free draw entry” and include your full name, confirmation that you are 18 or over, permanent Isle of Skye residential address, contact email and phone number, and confirmation that you follow the Portree Sauna Facebook page. Each separately submitted valid email receives one entry. Automated, bulk, incomplete or duplicate copies of the same email may be rejected.

06

Equal treatment

Booking and free-email entries are pooled in the same draw. Each valid entry has the same chance and the selection process does not distinguish between entry routes. There is no charge for email entry beyond your normal internet or email-provider costs.

07

FB17 discount

For eligible bookings, FB17 gives £5 off one standard £22 public-session seat, reducing it to £17. The code is subject to availability, applies only within the stated booking and session dates, and does not apply to private hire, events, packs, Local Discount Card tickets or other products unless expressly stated. It cannot be combined with another offer or exchanged for cash.

08

Invalid entries

Cancelled, refunded, reversed, fraudulent, incomplete or otherwise invalid bookings and entries do not qualify. The promoter may verify eligibility and reject entries that breach these terms or attempt to manipulate the promotion.

09

Winner selection

One winner will be selected within seven days after closing using a verifiably random computer process from all valid entries. The promoter will retain an audit record of the draw.

10

Contacting the winner

The winner will be contacted using the details supplied with the booking or free entry. They must respond and provide any requested eligibility evidence within seven days. Reasonable contact attempts will be made; if there is no valid response, eligibility cannot be verified or the prize is declined, the promoter may draw a replacement winner.

11

The prize

The prize is one complimentary individual seat in an available public Portree Sauna session each week from winner confirmation until 27 December 2026, up to a maximum of 20 seats and a maximum stated value of £440. Advance booking is required and all sessions remain subject to availability and the standard customer terms.

12

Weekly use

For prize administration, each week runs Monday to Sunday. A weekly seat must be booked and used within that week. Unused visits cannot be carried forward, transferred, resold, combined or exchanged for cash. Private hire, events, packs and other products are excluded.

13

Publicity and winner information

The promoter may ask the winner to participate in reasonable publicity, but this is optional. The winner’s surname and county may be made available to people who request the result within 30 days after the draw, unless the winner objects or asks for reduced disclosure. The promoter may still provide information to the Advertising Standards Authority where required.

14

Data use

Entry information is used to administer the draw, verify eligibility, contact the winner, prevent misuse and meet legal obligations. It is not added to general marketing lists without a separate lawful basis. See the Privacy & Cookies section above.

15

Changes and availability

The promoter may make changes only where circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this unavoidable and where doing so is fair to entrants. If the stated prize becomes unavailable, a reasonable equivalent may be offered where permitted by law. The promoter is not responsible for entries delayed or lost because of systems outside its reasonable control.

16

Facebook and law

This promotion is run by Highland Saunas Ltd and is not sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook. By entering, participants release Facebook from claims connected with the promotion to the extent permitted by law. These terms are governed by Scots law and do not affect mandatory consumer rights.
